Get ready… get set… go…to the 10th Annual Amazing Mile Children’s Run! The Amazing Mile is a race held every fall in conjunction with the Virginia 10 Miler. This race provides a great opportunity for children age 13 and under to experience a fun and family oriented race atmosphere while also encouraging children to adopt a healthy lifestyle by making physical activity fun and rewarding.
NEW for 2010, the Amazing Mile will move to downtown Lynchburg as part of the Virginia 10 Miler Festival! The Amazing Mile will be held at 5:45 pm on Friday, September 24th, beginning near the Rotary Centennial Riverfront Skatepark. The children will then race through Riverfront Park and back again to complete their one mile. All Amazing Mile participants will receive a special Amazing Mile t-shirt, medal and goodie bag.The Virginia 10 Miler Festival will be centered around the Amazing Mile race Friday, September 24th from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. outside Amazement Square. The Festival will include packet pick-up for all races, a live band, and other family-friendly activities such as balloon twisting, face painting, pictures with the Lynchburg Hillcats mascot Southpaw, a pet fair by the Lynchburg Humane Society, and more!

Tennis legend Andre Agassi will be this year’s Virginia 10 Miler keynote speaker. Join us Friday, September 24 at 6:30 p.m. in Riverfront Park, in conjunction with the 10th Annual Amazing Mile Children’s Run, to hear Andre share his experiences and thoughts about achieving your personal best. He also will answer a few of your questions submitted online (link for submissions via the Virginia 10 Miler Facebook page). Andre will be joined by Stefanie Graf, his Tennis Hall of Fame wife, to signal the start of the Amazing Mile at 5:45 p.m. and present the awards to the top boy and girl finishers. Even if you are not running, join us for this exciting event to kick off the first of the Virginia 10 Miler weekend events. This event is free and open to the public.

Amazement Square will be open from 10am to 1pm and from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, September 24th to allow runners and their families to make the most out of being downtown. Amazing Mile participants receive free admission (please wear your 2010 Amazing Mile shirt or medal) while regular admission is reduced to $3.

Baby Joggers/Strollers
Due to the size of the event and course location, baby joggers and strollers are prohibited. The inclusion of strollers in races increases the potential for injury to race participants.
Online registration ends in the early afternoon on Tuesday, September 21st. Paper registration is available at Amazement Square until 4:45pm on Friday, September 24th.
