In 2008, Amazement Square traveled into the world of literature with The Year of Authors. In 2009, we packed up our suitcases and traveled around the world with Growing Up Global. Now, in 2010, we’re traveling through time and space for Time Tracks 2010. The mission of Time Tracks 2010 is to encourage members of the community to explore the past, present, and future through interdisciplinary programs and exhibitions connecting the arts, sciences, and humanities. This year-long program will examine footprints of the past, how they have made an impression on the present, and the ways in which our own footprints will affect the future. Journey through time with Amazement Square as our exhibitions and programs explore different time eras spanning the whole of human history.
Kick off Time Tracks 2010 on March 20, 2010 at 10:00 am with our first Time Warp program. Each month, we’ll be taking a trip back in time to experience hands-on history. Our first stop is colonial era Virginia as we travel back to the 18th century and discover life in Lynchburg along the James River. Explore a bateauman’s campsite, learn how to navigate a bateau, enjoy colonial children’s games, and practice your quill writing skills.
