Come and explore the big world of little insects, arachnids, and other creepy crawlers at Bugs University (Bugs U.), now open! Enter the nocturnal world of crickets and lightning bugs, challenge yourself to place the steps of metamorphosis in order, and dig up clues using forensic entomology techniques at a crime scene. Visitors can crawl through a “rotting log” to discover what’s hiding inside and scale a life-size anthill. Create your own bug or study real insects up close in the exhibit’s terrarium habitats!
At Bugs U., guests will investigate the importance of all organisms in an environment, regardless how small or insignificant a bug may appear. Through the various interactive, hands-on elements, guests will discover the life cycles of insects, determine the difference between native and invasive bugs, and understand how ecosystems work together. Through exploration of the exhibition, guests will learn how important insects are to maintaining a healthy environment that all organisms (including humans) rely on!
