In response to feedback from numerous members and visitors, Amazement Square is bringing back this hands-on, interactive exhibition that explores bird habitats around the world. Flights of Fancy encourages all guests to learn more about our fine feathered friends and the places they live. In the exhibition, visitors will become immersed in the sights and sounds of the Antarctic, tropical rainforests, savannah, and marshlands. In these environments, guests will be able to perform puppet shows, study bird tracks, and to build a bird’s nest. Visitors are also invited to explore a bird’s body parts and learn what makes birds unique among animals; match fun facts to habitat maps to uncover birds of prey; and test their knowledge of bird extremes.
CLOSING AUGUST 30th
NOW OPEN!Celebrating Differences: Access for All invites visitors to explore
what it is like to live with various disabilities. In this exhibition, visitors will
have the opportunity to engage in activities such as learning the Braille and
American Sign Language alphabets, playing wheelchair bowling and basketball, and exploring interactive stations that will stimulate visitors' senses. This exhibition will also highlight some of the museum’s accessibility offerings, which are made possible by the Virginia Department
of Rehabilitative Services.
This exhibition has been made possible in part through the generosity of the Helen S. and Charles G. Patterson, Jr. Charitable Foundation Trust
